We use your email to send the Dispatch and limited site analytics to understand which pages are useful. Newsletter signup is for adults.

What we collect

If you subscribe to the Weekly Dispatch we store your email address, signup source, subscription dates and confirmation status. Confirmation and unsubscribe links contain private tokens used to manage your subscription. Quizzes use a random visitor cookie to remember attempts and results.

Our site analytics measure page visits, selected newsletter and email-link clicks, newly accepted newsletter signups, first confirmations, and completed quizzes. Analytics use public page categories and article slugs; they do not include email addresses, subscription tokens, quiz answers or scores, form contents, or named visitor profiles. Page and referral URLs have query strings and fragments removed. We retain a limited set of fixed campaign labels to understand how visitors find the site.

What we do with it

We use your address to confirm your subscription, send the Weekly Dispatch, and process unsubscribe requests. Our email delivery provider processes it to deliver those messages. We do not sell or rent your address, or send it to our analytics provider.

Cookies & tracking

We use session cookies for site functions and a random visitor cookie for quizzes. PostHog provides our site analytics from its US-hosted service, using random browser and session identifiers stored in cookies and local storage. The analytics service receives ordinary browser/device information and an IP address with network requests, which can provide approximate location.

Analytics respect your browser's Do Not Track setting and are disabled on development sites. We disable session replay, automatic interaction capture, heatmaps, surveys and automatic error/performance collection. We do not use advertising pixels. If your browser blocks analytics, newsletter signup and quizzes continue to work.

Children

The Dispatch is written for adults — parents and teachers — and signup is adult-directed. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us at hello@bigwrinklybrain.com and we'll remove the address immediately.

Unsubscribe

Every Dispatch email contains an unsubscribe link. Click it, you're out — no questions. You can also email hello@bigwrinklybrain.com and we'll remove you.
